A personal planning and support program to promote greater physical activity among older adults (65+) who are not regularly active.
ActivAge™ is a free 3-month group-led physical activity program for inactive older adults. It introduces participants to physical activity and reinforces their commitment to incorporate it into their daily lives.
The program is progressive with planned physical activities (stretching, activity, and cool-down) based on ActivAge™ training. This fun and social program will help get participants moving in a relaxed environment with likeminded people.
The program focuses on improving activities associated with daily living, strengthening muscles used day-to-day (ie: bending, lifting, stretching, etc). Each class incorporates physical activities that engage participants, and features in-class discussions and resources to improve overall health and physical well-being.
For in-person programming, visit the website and select the appropriate health authority region, then locate the nearest recreation centre. Contact the recreation centre directly to register. If the desired program is not yet listed on the recreation centre’s website, registration may not yet be open for the upcoming season. The recreation centre can provide the date when registration will open.
