Housing Services - For Seniors

Provided by Seniors Services Society of BC

A broad range of one-on-one housing navigation services including outreach, temporary housing and the seniors’ loan program to assist seniors aged 60+ to secure and maintain affordable and appropriate housing.
Housing Services Include:
  • Seniors Loan Program: Emergency Funds which may be needed to pay rent, utility bills or another expense in order to maintain housing.
  • Housing Navigation: Assisting seniors with navigating housing resources
  • Homeless Outreach Services: One-on-one services to assist seniors in stabilizing and maintaining housing
  • Homeless Prevention Program: Specialized services to assist seniors in preventing loss of housing.
  • Form and Tax Completion: Volunteers assist New Westminster seniors 60+ with filling out forms in our office
  • Temporary Housing Program (THP): An alternative housing option for seniors in crisis.

When connected with the housing department, trained staff conduct a series of detailed questions to help determine the individual’s housing needs. All client interviews are confidential. If someone is calling on behalf of a senior, staff will always speak directly with the senior before taking any action to ensure they are fully involved in the decision-making process.

Once the Housing Counsellor has a clear understanding of the individual’s situation, they will assemble an information package tailored to that person’s housing needs and send it by mail.

Available for seniors 60+ who are inquiring about different seniors’ housing options in Metro Vancouver, excluding the Downtown East Side.
