Vancouver Infant Development Program (IDP)

A home visiting program for families with infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months who have, or are at risk for, developmental delay, or who have a diagnosed condition.
The Infant Development Program (IDP) is a family-centered, home based, consultative program that serves children from birth to three years of age. Children are eligible if they are considered at risk for developmental delays, are already experiencing a delay or have a diagnosis, and reside in the Vancouver and Richmond areas. IDP promotes maximum development through evidence based interventions, consultations, and education. Services include:
  • Home visits to encourage progress, develop new goals and activities
  • Both formal and informal developmental assessment
  • Gross motor screening by a Physiotherapist as necessary
  • Ongoing physiotherapy as necessary
  • To enhance the home-based program, parent child groups are offered
  • Resource lending
  • Assistance for you and your child making a transition or referral to another program or agency
  • Service coordination if desired


Parents or legal guardians may contact the Infant Development Program directly, or be referred by a doctor, public health nurse or community professional.
