Get Set & Connect - Social activities for adults living with mental illness

Provided by Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - Vancouver Fraser Branch

A peer based program which enhances mental health and well-being to people with lived experience with a mental health and/or addiction concern through leisure and or volunteer activities
Get Set & Connect (GSC) helps participants to form significant connections and meaningful relationships (which are proven to advance recovery from severe mental illness) by linking adults living with mental illness to leisure activities in their community. Through monthly networking sessions, participants share resources, success stories and knowledge about other opportunities and activities in the community.

The program focuses on community inclusion and building meaningful connections. There are five components of the program: One to One Leisure and Volunteer Community Access Coaching, Connecting through Peer-Led Groups, Independent Leisure, Independent Volunteer Exploration and Group Volunteer Exploration.

Participants may also access the volunteer preparation course, Ready, Set, Go! to explore their interests, strengths, and create a plan to obtain a volunteer placement. Visit the website for further details.
