Victim Services - Surrey

Provided by Surrey Women's Centre

Various services for women who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault or childhood abuse.
The Women's Centre provides the following services:
  • Sharing Closet: Offers free clothes, bedding and small household items. Comfort kits are also available and include travel-size toiletries like soap, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste.
  • 1:1 Counselling: Individual sessions explore the dynamics of violence and the impact of trauma on women’s lives.
  • Support Groups: Group counselling provides a safe place for women to share their stories with other survivors of violence. Women learn from others who have shared experiences while decreasing feelings of loneliness and isolation. They offer a variety of support groups including a weekly drop-in group every Tuesday afternoon.
  • Legal Advocacy: The Court Support Team helps survivors understand their legal rights and helps them navigate the criminal justice system step-by-step by providing court orientation and accompaniment to legal proceedings. The team will also help you apply for the Crime Victim Assistance Program which provides financial assistance and other benefits to victims of crime. Our team may also register survivors with the Victim Safety Unit and the Corrections branch to ensure that she is notified about the release of an offender. Support is also available for witnesses and other non-offending family members.
  • Law Clinic: A pro bono family law clinic that provides free legal information for women escaping domestic violence who cannot afford a lawyer.
