Infant Development Program: The South Okanagan Infant Development Program serves children from birth to three years old who are at risk for, or who already have, a delay in development. The program aims to enhance the child’s development. Service offered at the Penticton location.
Programs for Ages 5-12
After School Programs: Children will be provided time to play outside, sports, games, creative arts, a daily nutritional snack, and fun leisure activities. Service offered at the Penticton, Summerland and Okanagan Falls locations.
Programs for Youth
Youth Recreation Programs: Provides a safe and supportive place to “hang out”, and recreational opportunities such as games, creative arts and special events. Service offered at the Oliver, Osoyoos and Penticton locations.
Programs for the Family
- Community Kitchen: Community Kitchen is a program that allows families to cook together once a month on Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and prepare four meals that are healthy and nutritious for their family at a minimal cost. The goals of the program are to educate parents about basic healthy food preparation through demonstration and hands on cooking. In turn, the parents learn to prepare meals on their own that are affordable, easy to prepare and are nutritious. A facilitator coordinates all the necessary supplies and food needed to cook the meals. Offered at the Penticton location.
- Integrated Family Development Service: Facilitates counseling, support, parent education, conflict resolution, and community connections for children, youth and their families, to increase healthy family functioning and develop positive skills for life. Individuals and families can self-refer or be referred by community partners. Offered at the Penticton, Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls location.
- Positively Pregnant: This is for parents-to-be or parents of babies up to 6 months of age. They provide pre-natal information, support and supplements as well as nutritious meal. Offered at the Penticton location.
- Parenting: This program offers a variety of parent education and parent/child activities for parents with children 0-6 years of age. Offered at the Penticton location.
- Nobody’s Perfect Parenting: The Nobody’s Perfect parenting program is about finding your way as a parent. Find ideas and support to help manage today’s challenges and a child’s needs. Discover your strengths as a parent, and build new ones with the support and encouragement of other parents. For parents of children 0-5. Offered at the Penticton location.
- The Sexual Abuse Intervention Program: The Sexual Abuse Intervention Program provides counselling, support and education to children aged 5-19 and their families who have been affected by sexual abuse. Counsellors also provide information and education regarding healthy sexuality and abuse prevention and protection to parents and community service providers. This program is offered at the Oliver location.
- Achievers Program: The Achievers Program is a unique recreation and social program that provides community integration to school-aged children with disabilities. Children participate in social and recreational activities. This program is offered at the Summerland location.
