Blue Wave - Youth Mental Health Education Program

Aims to makes a difference in the lives of youth struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and/or mental health issues. Their mission was to increase awareness, encourage solutions, foster hope and end the stigma of mental illness
Blue Wave Youth Team: A group of young people from across BC aged 14–18. Part of our program involves teaching a mental health skills course to teenagers, and our team is giving their advice on all the course materials to make them relevant for a Canadian youth audience.

Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary: A bursary program for young people under 20 with mental health problems and in financial need. Awards are between $700 per recipient, depending on the year.

You are eligible for bursery if you :
  • Have experienced significant mental health or substance use problem and are accessing treatment and support
  • Can demonstrate financial need
  • Are under the age of 20 at the time you apply
  • Have lived in BC for at least a year from the date of your application
  • Are not enrolling or enrolled in a government-sponsored job training program
  • Will be enrolled in first-year studies at a recognized BC university, college, or technical institute by January 1 of the year after you are applying

Living Life to the Full for Youth: A 12-hour course that teaches skills for dealing with life’s challenges. In 8 fun sessions the course looks at worry, low mood, isolation, healthy thinking, problem solving, confidence, and anger management.
