Social Support Programs for Children With Special Needs

- Infant Development Program: For children under the age of 3 who are at risk for or are presenting a delay in their development.
- Reach Autism Program for Children Under 6: The Reach Autism Program is for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Families can use autism and at-home funding to pay for services.
- Applied Behavioural Analysis (Autism) Program: For children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The skill-building program that uses ABA to teach young children with autism new skills in the areas of communication, cognition/academics, play/social skills, fine motor skills and self-help.
- Delta Connex: Program for parents, who have children that have been exposed to alcohol or drugs prenatally. Program is for children up to the age of 19
- Aboriginal Supported Child Development: Designed to specifically meet the needs of children of Aboriginal heritage who require additional support. The program is developed with cultural values, beliefs, and traditions in mind.
- Child Therapy Program: Provides speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy to children from age birth to kindergarten entry age.
- Reach Counselling Services Program: Provides counselling for families, individuals, and couples who have a child with a developmental disability. Counselling may address a variety of issues ranging from marital stress to depression to social anxiety.
- Positive Connections: Provides a free service for parents with special needs children. Provides parents with education, connections to community resources and support groups.
- Supported Child Development: In order to be effectively included in a child care setting, it’s recognized that some children may require some extra support. This program helps support children from birth to 12 years of age and In some special circumstances up the age of 19.
- Child Therapy Program: Provides speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy to children from age birth to kindergarten entry age.
- Reach Choices Program: A family-centred program that provides individualised services to children and youth with autism and their families. Families work with a Behavioural Consultant, Speech-Language therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapist to establish priorities for intervention. Goals can be picked in the areas of social skills, language and communication, fine motor, self help and leisure skills.
- Positive Behavioural Support: A provincially funded in-home support program for families with children with special needs, including children with autism, ages 3 to 18 years old who present with behavioural challenges.
- Social Smart Group: Bridge to build opportunities for children with autism to develop and maintain friendships.
- Respite Care: Temporary relief from the challenges of caring for a child with a developmental disability. Whether this relief is for a few hours, a day, a weekend or longer depends on the families' needs.
- Early Years Centre: A place where families and caregivers can access programs, information, and resources.
- Network for Parents of Children with Special Needs: Provides support for parents with special needs children between the ages of 0-18. Receive helpful information on parenting & find upcoming courses & workshops.
